Skating Luxembourg – Skating groups for 2016 – 2017
Skaties :programme for learning the basics skills of figure skating for children from 4 to 12 year old.The transition to the next level depends on the results obtained at the tests (“Patins” and “Lames”) which validate the acquisition of the skating skills.We offer 3 classes:
Skaties A (“mauve” – light purple): 2 sessions per week, Thursday and Saturday,
Skaties B (“vert” – green): 1 session per week on a Saturday,
Skaties C (orange): 1 session per week on a Thursday.
It is important to attend the classes on a regular basis in order to ensure a good progress of the skater.
The children are split into smaller groups according to their skating abilities.
Teenagers/ adults:teenagers from 13 year old and adults wishing to improve their skating skills and skate for the pleasure. All levels, from beginners to advanced skaters.
Gala / Ballet on ice
Gala/ Ballet on ice: advanced leisure group for children. Access to this group requires a minimum skills level and is upon coaches’ invitation only.
This group is focused on shows and combines technical figure skating skills and ballet / synchro.
Advanced Gala / Ballet on ice: post-competition group for Competition skaters who don’t wish or can’t do competitions anymore, but still have pleasure to skate.
This group will support the Gala / Ballet on ice group in their shows.
There is a higher requirement level for the skaters of the Competition branch. All the coaches expect a high commitment and motivation from the skaters, on ice and off ice.
It is also expected that, after school, figure skating is the priority of these skaters before any other extracurricular activity.
“Detection” group: first stage in the competition branch, the access to this group is upon coaches’ invitation for skaters from the Skaties classes.
The skaters will continue to learn the basic skills of figure skating and start to focus as well on the artistic side of figure skating.
“Avenir” group: second stage of the competition branch, the skaters of this group focus on improving their knowledge of the fundamentals of the sport and are working toward the competition.
Pre-competition group: the objective of the skaters of this group is to do their competition in the season.
Going to the next level is based on the progress of the skater during the course of the season and on the results of the tests at the end of the season.
It is expected that the skaters don’t stay more than one season in Detection and two in the Avenir and Pre-Competition groups.
In any case, it is the coaches’ choice to assign a skater in one group or another.
Competition group:the Competition skaters take part regularly to competitions of different levels, according to the objectives set by the coaches.
